Audio Podcasts don't enjoy algorithmic recommendation/discovery... so it's up to the creator to promote to new audiences.... I think doing both (without much extra work) is worthwhile, but one should have different expectations

Nice recap. I'm a huge RUclips and video podcast fan. Actually think it was a good idea for Google to shutter Google Podcast and move to RUclips Music. I've seen decent view numbers on my video podcast, on my RUclips channel, despite being very inconsistent with the podcast. Some may overlook the fact that having a video podcast on RUclips CAN help grow your channel, like you pointed out. I am curious though, why not use something like Spotify to upload your video version too as well? It would give you the audio+video combo too.

I originally subscribed because of your Descript review and stayed for everything else... then doubled down to watch your video podcast journey as I'm in the midst of rebranding and relaunching my audio podcast. Like you were initially, I've been on the fence about doing both (video and audio)... because it would supposedly take longer, especially if you're doing the editing yourself. I was already leaning towards adding video to the mix, but thanks to this episode, I've made the decision final... thanks a bunch for your behind the scenes insights! ~JMW

I am so DANG frustrated with Descript. I just bought the year long subscription but keep running into issues. I recorded my video on my phone camera this morning and uploaded it into descript to edit, and the video coloration on my face is ALL wrong. I have no idea how to fix it. There are coloration settings in descript (but I have no idea how to edit it to make my face look right). I uploaded the same video files to iMovie, and everything looks fine. I don't get it. I wish i could make my workflow be as simple as yours in this video!

Thanks for a very useful overview of some of the most common alternatives, and of course there are a bunch of others too. Anyway, we have been using Descript for the convenient text editing capabilities. Lately we have also tried Filmora, which has a lot of editing options, but our current favorite is Camtasia 2024, which has everything we need: ease of use, good templates, and in the new version really nifty ways to produce animated subtitles/captions and great looking screen recordings similar to what you showed in Tella. And the "polishing" can also be done with great results in both Camtasia and Filmora. No need for Adobe Premier Pro or Final Cut Pro, if you are not a real pro as a video producer.
